Are you a computer technician?
A computer technician's customers can possibly be the managers, owners and general users of computer systems. If a computer system is misbehaving or is not working at all, these people become extremely frustrated, putting heavy demands on the technician to come up with instant and workable solutions.
As such, the technician’s role consist of both of somewhat a detective and a psychologist's work scope, otherwise he or she won’t be able to handle all the remedial demands effectively. He or she is dealing with problematic machines (computers), in addition to reasonably frustrated people. As a computer technician, your duties will be to attempt to get to the root of the problem and getting immediate solutions by getting honest answers from the said users.
As a computer technician, your professional image should be that of personal integrity, respect and decorum, otherwise dealing with problematic computers and agitated users can be quite hard for your continued sanity. Most clients experiencing malfunctioning and problematic computer systems become afraid, thus defensive when you go asking them as to what could have happened. As such, ensure that you only ask them appropriate questions so as to get the right answers. Avoid snappish questions such as, "What did you do to the computer?" Use indirect questions instead, for example, has it ever worked behaved this way before? This way, you will easily get to the source of the computer problem easily, thereby being able to solve it in an easier, swift and effective manner.
