There is a new malware trojan, ransomware, targeting BitTorrent users and trying to scam them for money. On startup the user is presented with a message that claims to be from a fake anti-piracy organization called the ICCP Foundation. Extortion is the word to describe paying $400 to avoid prosecution for piracy charges. The clever scam artists believe that, if someone is illegally downloading movies and music that they could intimidate them into believing that this is a legitimate copyright anti piracy organization and extort money for doing something illegal. It is illegal to demand payment for illegal activities. Legitimate copyright notices will advise the user that they are in possession of copyright materials and demand that they remove the file and refrain from use or duplication only. They can't take control of your computer until you pay money.

To get rid of this malware you could pirate the keycode to deactivate the malware that accused you of piracy. Then run a good malware, antivirus removal application to be rid of it completely. See quote from ZDNet below.

“What would be the best, and most effective way to get rid of the ransomware once and for all, excluding the use of freeware tools that detect and remove it? It’s by using the universal unlocking code/licensing code required in the “Enter a previously purchased license code” window - in this case that’s RFHM2-TPX47-YD6RT-H4KDM,” explained ZDNet’s Dancho Danchev.
